India: One Billion People, One Billion Ad Requests
In June 2009, India drove a total of 502 million ad requests on the AdMob platform. In less than a year, this number has grown 100% and today the India AdMob team is excited to announce a milestone of one billion monthly ad requests crossed in India.
This growth rate is a genuine testament to the expanding Indian mobile ecosystem. With the majority of Indian users accessing the internet solely on their mobile phones, India generates the second highest mobile web traffic on the AdMob platform following the United States of America. The scale and popularity of devices connected to the mobile web in India now make it impossible for advertisers to ignore the opportunity to engage with this market.
In India, we are dedicated to growing the local mobile market and we constantly work with key brands to build mobile properties and apps which are useful and valuable for consumers. In addition, we are invested in developing an array of advertising options for both medium and large scale businesses and our growing Indian customer base stands testimony to our ability to deliver results for our advertisers.
Looking back, it has been a truly enriching journey and we look forward to contributing towards the fast expanding India mobile ecosystem. If you are interested in promoting your mobile properties and applications in India, please contact contactindia@admob.com.

Claro Brazil Case Study: Improving App Discovery With AdMob
Claro Brazil, of the America Movil group, recently released a radio iPhone app for the Brazilian market. The app allows users to stream music for free on their iPhone or iPod touch devices. Naturally, Claro wanted to develop a strong user base for the application. Aorta, the developer of the Claro Radio app, understood that boosting the app’s ranking to the top of the Brazil Apple App Store would aid in discovery of the application and deliver a large organic audience.
Claro and Aorta ran a targeted mobile advertising campaign on AdMob’s iPhone network in Brazil to boost the ranking of the Claro Radio iPhone app. Before the campaign started, Claro Radio was unranked in the Brazil App Store and was receiving less than 20 downloads per day. Once the campaign launched, the number of downloads per day increased to over 1,000 and the application rose to #5 free app ranking in the Brazil Apple App Store. The higher ranking drove additional organic downloads – many users found the app while they were browsing the top app rankings on their phones.
Claro Radio ranked #1 in Brazil Apple App Store
Claro’s experience is not unique. We have run multiple iPhone app campaigns in Latin America with similar results. If you are interested in promoting an iPhone application in Latin America, be sure to contact us at contactlatam@admob.com.

AdMob Supports Developers Across Platforms
Developers are increasingly building their applications for multiple platforms. In a recent survey, we found that nearly half of developers are planning to have their applications on multiple platforms within the next 6 months.
At AdMob, we want to provide easy monetization solutions across as many of those platforms as possible. So today we are happy to announce the release of three ad SDKs, including important updates to our existing Android and iPhone SDKs and a new SDK for Flash Lite.
Android SDK – Our Android SDK brings AdMob’s rich media ad units including expandable canvas and multi-panel banner to Android devices. It also enables developers to easily monetize their applications across different OS versions, screen resolutions, or screen sizes. We launched our first Android SDK in January 2009 and since then added 3,000 Android applications to our network and served 1.5 billion ad requests in February 2010 to Android OS devices. To download an updated Android SDK log into your AdMob account and download the publisher code for your site.
iPhone SDK – Our iPhone SDK includes several performance enhancements as well as additional server side flexibility for developers. For example, developers can now change the refresh rate and formatting of their Admob ads without resubmitting their application to their respective app stores. We launched our first iPhone SDK in July 2008 and currently have over 8,000 iPhone applications in our network and served 5.6 billion ad requests in February 2010 to iPhone OS devices. To download updated iPhone SDKs, log into your AdMob account and download the publisher code for your site.
Flash Lite SDK (Beta) – This brand new SDK will give developers the ability to monetize their Flash Lite applications. Flash Lite is a popular developer platform in Japan and allows AdMob to expand presence in this important market. In 2009, we reported an installed base of 80+ million devices with Flash Lite support in Japan. To download the Flash Lite SDK, log into your account, select the “Sites & Apps” tab, and click on the “Add Site/App” link. On this page, you can register your Flash Lite app and then download the SDK.
The AdMob SDK team is excited to launch these SDKs and have them join our existing solutions for WebOS, iPhone JavaScript, and Mobile Web. If you have feedback on any of our SDKs please don’t hesitate to email us at support@admob.com or drop by our Developer Day on Thursday March 25th and ask questions.
